It’s also very easy to confuse relative clauses with “where” and “which”, like in 1. The rule of thumb for telling the difference is as follows. If you write the relative clause as a separate sentence and have “there”, then use “where” as the relative pronoun:
New York is the state WHERE I am from. << I am from THERE.
But if you have “it” instead, use “which”:
If you are looking for a country WHICH has nice people, choose Thailand. << IT has nice people.
Many groups made this kind of mistake. Maybe that’s because you don’t have as many relative pronouns in Thai to choose from as we do in English. In any case, it’s a pretty advanced point.
