ขออธิบายเรื่องเสียง /w/ นะคะ ที่จริงมีนักศึกษาถามมาทุกปีเลย คงเป็นเพราะความผิดของครุเองที่อธิบายไม่หมด เสียงนี้ ในหนังสือบางเล่มใช้ว่า velar เพราะใช้การยกลิ้นส่วนหลัง (raising and backing the tongue) แต่บางเล่มใช้ว่า bilabial เพราะมีการใช้ริมฝีปากยื่นออกมาด้วย ที่จริงน่าจะใช้ว่า "labiovelar"จึงน่าจะถูกต้อง แต่เป็นเพราะการที่มีการลดการใช้คำฟุ่มเฟือยในทางภาษาศาสตร์ ดังนั้นตัวนี้เราจึงสามารถเรียกได้ว่า labial glide/ a bilabial glide หรือ a velar (or back) glide

I would like to add that in phonetics, /w/ is a glide or an approximant. This means that in the production of /w/ starts like the production of a vowel, and then the velar is involved before the air is released through the lips that are brought together.

The most important thing is that /w/ is a glide or an approximant and that it is different from /v/.
