คำกริยาประสม two-word verb หรือ phrasal verb เกิดจาก verb + preposition ใช่ไหมคะ

แต่ในคลิป เขียนและพูดว่า เกิดจาก verb + adverb ค่ะ

Some people want to avoid calling the second element in a phrasal verb (like “look up” or “break up”) a “preposition”, because they want to distinguish it from the first element in prepositional phrases like “up the road” or “on the table”. Usually they call it a “particle” instead, and I’m not sure if “adverb” is a good choice.

This is important for pronunciation because the preposition/particle in a phrasal verb takes the stress, unlike in other contexts when prepositions are function words and remain unstressed. So in “take off”, off is stressed, but in “off the mark”, it’s unstressed. Remember this point for the second online practice!
